      Excerpt The present study was aimed at evaluating the anti-hyperglycemic activity, anti-diabetic, toxicity, antioxidant and potential mechanism of action of hydroethanolic extract of the inner stem bark of Cedrela odorata. Anti-hyperglycemic and antidiabetic effects were evaluated in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

      Excerpt Evaluation of the phenolic compounds & antioxidant activity of Cedrela odorata -& Juglans regia bark extracts was performed in vitro. Diabetes was later induced by an injection with streptozotocin (65 mg/kg of b.w.) and confirmed after 24 hours.

      Excerpt All test organisms (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium notatum, Mucor mucedo & Candida albicans) were found to be sensitive to both extracts. Assessment of the ethanol & chloroform leaf extracts of Chlorophora excelsa, Cedrela odorata & Tectona grandis were investigated in order to verify their claimed folkloric usage in the treatment of microbial infections.

      Excerpt odorata bark essential oil was screened for antimicrobial activity & showed appreciable activity against the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus Cereus a&the Mold Aspergillus niger,. The pale yellow volatile oil from the bark of Cedrela odorata from Monteverde, Costa Rica, was obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography – mass spectrometry.
