Excerpt The present study was carried out to evaluate the hypoglycemic & hypolipidemic activity of alcohol & aqueous root extracts of Erythrina variegata in alloxan induced diabetic rats. The results showed that the extracts 300 mg/kg & 600 mg/kg significantly (P<0.001, p<0.01) reduced fasting blood glucose of alloxan diabetic rats in a dose-related manner, when compared to control and standard (anti-diabetic agent, Glibenclamide 500μg/kg).
