Excerpt Essential oils from leaf & flower of Gliricidiasepium were tested for antibacterial activity against ten bacterial strains: Bacillus cereus, Enterobacter faecalis, Salmonella paratyphi, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus faecalis, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa & Serratia marcescens by ‘agar well diffusion’ method. The remarkable antibacterial activity exhibited by the leaf oil can be attributed to the synergic effect of the antimicrobial agents present in it.
