    • According to PANDURANGAN A (2013)

      Excerpt Diabetes was confirmed after 5 days, after that Petroleum ether (PEHP) & Ethanolic extracts (EEHP) of Hamelia patens (100 & 400 mg/kg, body wt.) and the standard drug Glibenclamide (10 mg/kg, body wt.) were given orally in 0.5% Tween 80 daily for 20 days, except the normal and diabetic control group (n=6). Conclusion: From the result obtained in the present study, it is concluded that PEHP & EEHP (400 mg/kg, body wt.) possess better antidiabetic potential in alloxan induced diabetic rats.

      Excerpt The antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans were evaluated using agar diffusion and broth dilution techniques in accordance with standard methods. Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were the most susceptible bacterial isolates to all the extracts used while Candida albicans was more susceptible to the extracts than the Aspergillus niger among the fungal isolates.

      Excerpt Test groups were given standard Indomethacin (10mg/kg) and Hamelia patens leaf extract in 200mg/kg & 400mg/kg; after 1% Carrageenan (0.1 ml) injection. The present study investigates the anti-inflammatory activity of Hamelia patens leaf extracts using carrageenan induced paw edema in albino rats.

      Excerpt In the present study we have done non-targeted analysis of extract from Hamelia patens by GC/MS & estimated the inhibitory concentration (IC50) of the extract in three human tumor cell lines MCF-7, H-460 & SF-268. In-vitro cytotoxic activity of HPAE on cancer cell lines were conducted by MTT assay.
