      Excerpt The aim of this study was to evaluate the methanolic extract of aerial parts of Leonurus sibiricus L (LS) for its anticancer activity on HCC cell lines. The carotenoids, lutein & beta carotene present in LS-M extract exhibited anticancer activity.

      Excerpt This is the first study to examine composition of the EOs & their antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiproliferative, & anti‐inflammatory activities. Essential oils obtained from the NR (normal roots) & HR (hairy roots) of the medicinal plant Leonurus sibiricus root were used in this study.

      Excerpt The aim of this study was to determine the anticancer potential of Leonurus sibiricus extract derived from in vitro transgenic roots transformed by Agrobacetrium rhizogenes with AtPAP1 transcriptional factor, & that of transformed roots without construct, on grade IV human glioma cells & the U87MG cell line, & attempt to characterize the mechanism involved in this process. Both the tested extracts showed anticancer properties & the better results were observed for AtPAP1 with transcriptional factor root extract; this effect could be ascribed to the presence of higher condensed phenolic acids such as neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acids, ferulic acid, caffeic acid & p-coumaric acid.

      Excerpt In Leonurus sibiricus herb extract (LHE)-supplemented animals, plasma cholesterol decreased & high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol increased, resulting in a lowered atherogenic index. In human umbilical vein endothelial cells stimulated with tumor necrosis factor alpha, LHE significantly suppressed intracellular reactive oxygen species, LOX-1, & adhesion molecules.

      Excerpt Aim of the study: To evaluate the effect of the ethanol extract of the aerial parts of L.S (EELs) in models of gastric damage in mice. Material & methods: The effect of EELs (50, 100 & 300 mg/kg, p.o., 1 h before induction) was tested on acidified ethanol (ACEt)-induced gastric ulcers.
