      Excerpt The aim of this work was to evaluate the cytotoxic effect of ethanolic extracts obtained from free-oil leaves (L9) & stem (S15), against lung cancer cell line SK-LU-1, through tetrazolium salt (MTT) assay. The ethanolic extracts of LG have excellent cytotoxic activity, & have a wide possibility of use in lung cancer treatment.

      Excerpt Oregano infusions have traditionally been used to treat some diseases related to inflammation & cancer; also, some species have shown antiproliferative activity on cancer cell lines, for example, colon and liver, & this has been attributed to its phytochemical profile, mainly its phenolic compound. Furthermore, the cytotoxicity of the extracts was evaluated in vitro on a non-cancer cell line of fibroblast NIH3T3 & the antiproliferative potential on the breast cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231 & MCF-7.

      Excerpt pepo, Erythrina berteroana, Fernaldia Pandurata, Gliricidia sepium, Lippia graveolens, Litsea guatemalensis, Manilkara sapota, Neurolaena lobata, Ocimum micranthum, Phlebodium pseudoaureum, Pimenta dioica, Piper auritum, Smilax domingensis, Solanum nigrescens, Spondias mombin, Tagetes lucida & Yucca éléphantipes). Antioxidant activity was evaluated by macro- & micro-quantification of total phenolics by Folin-Ciocalteu, total antioxidant capacity using DPPH, & Iron reducing power.

      Excerpt LG showed the highest antioxidant capacity & significantly inhibited the proliferation of MCF-7 & MDA-MB-231 cells at non-cytotoxic concentrations in normal cells, with a similar effect to that cisplatin in MDA-MB-231 cells. The extract was characterized by determining antioxidant activity, total phenols content, & identifying the profile of phenolic acids & flavonoids by chromatography UPLC-MS/MS.

      Excerpt Ethanolic extract of Mexican oregano (Lippia graveolens) stem (Ext) had a favorable effect on biochemical markers in a murine model of MetS, induced by injection of monosodium glutamate (MSG). The aim of this work was to determine the effect of Mexican oregano ethanolic extract in metabolic syndrome in murine model.
