Excerpt This study was aimed to investigate an acute toxicity & effects of Nelumbo nucifera flower extract (NNFE) on hyperglycemic &hypolipidemic effects in streptozytocin-induced diabetic rats. Furthermore, the extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg significantly (p<0.05) decreased the levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), & blood urea nitrogen (BUN) but increased high density lipoprotein (HDL) in the NNFE- treated diabetic rats compared to diabetic controls.

    • According to RAKESH P (2011)

Excerpt The present study is aimed to evaluate the anti diabetic effect of Nelumbo nucifera rhizome & flower extracts on serum glucose level in normal & streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. The various extracts was prepared & screened for their effects on serum glucose level in rahese studies, we can conclude that the NN rhizome & flower extract is a promising anti diabetic agent.ts.

    • According to Huralikuppi† JC (1991)

Excerpt Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn, an Indian aquatic herb, has been studied for its potential utility in the treatment of Diabetes mellitus.
