1. Type II diabetes mellitus

    Plant part used: aerial parts.

    Scientific references (short excerpts)

Short excerpts only (not the full article). Full reference records are in the Lapo v2 application.

    • According to DEVI M (2019)

Excerpt The present study was aimed to evaluate the antidiabetic activity of ethanolic extract of the whole aerial plant of Portulaca grandiflora Hook on streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Adult male Wister albino rats were divided into five groups; normal control, diabetic control, diabetic glibenclamide (5 mg/kg), diabetic P.G H.

    • According to Pradeep Kumar C (2019)

Excerpt Pradeep Kumar C et al, Evaluation of Diabetic Nephropathy using Endogenous Plant Portulaca Grandiflora Extract in Alloxan Induced Diabetic Rats.

    • According to WANG X (2023)

Excerpt Portulaca grandiflora is a tiny, upright herb that contains a variety of chemical components including alkaloids, glycosides, mucilage, proteins, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, poly-saccharides & triterpenoids possessing properties that may help with atherosclerosis. In order to determine the effectiveness of PG MTOH extract fraction against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced hyper-lipidemia, hemo-dynamic change, antioxidant levels, & vascular dysfunction in rats, a study was carried out on a flavonoid-rich methanol extract fraction of the aerial part of PG.

  2. Oxidative stress

    Plant part used: Whole plant.

    Scientific references (short excerpts)

Short excerpts only (not the full article). Full reference records are in the Lapo v2 application.

    • According to Lim CK (2014)

Excerpt Crude extracts from the whole plant of five different varieties (white, purple red, orange, pink & red) of Portulaca grandiflora were screened for their in vitro antioxidant & total phenolic content. The antioxidant activity of plant extracts as determined by DPPH scavenging assay were ranging from 0.69-2.14 mg/mL, 1.40-4.38 mg gallic acid/g, and 7.32-29.21 mg ascorbic acid/g when expressed as IC50, GEAC & AEAC, respectively.

Conclusion: These results revealed that PG is an effective treatment approach in preventing atherosclerotic lesion progression, which is attributed to its protection against oxidative stress & various enzymatic activities in the Atherogenic model.

    • According to Budiawan A (2023)

Excerpt The wounds treated with 10 and 20% purslane herbs extract varieties A (Portulaca grandiflora magenta flower) have 0.32 ± 0.55 a&1.63 ± 1.96 mm wound diameters on day 7 and healed on day 11. The wounds treated with 10 a&20% purslane herbs extract varieties C (Portulaca grandiflora pink flower) showed 2.88 ± 0.51 & 0.84 ± 1.45 mm diameter & healed on day 11.

    • According to NGUYEN THN (2026)

Excerpt NGUYEN THN et al, Study on the chemical composition & biological activity of extracts from moss rose in Viet Nam (Portulaca grandiflora), Food rs, 10(5):17-20, 2026-Abstact: This study aimed to determine the chemical composition and biological properties of moss rose (Portulaca grandiflora) in Vietnam. The total polyphenol content & the highest antioxidant activity value (in methanol fraction) were 506.76±1.08 mg GAE/g dry matter and 6.13±0.19 mg ascorbic acid/g dry matter.

    • According to Aisyah SIIS (2023)

Excerpt Portulaca oleracea & Portulaca grandiflora are medicinal ornamental plants used in traditional & modern medicine. The phytochemical screening included the examination of secondary plant metabolites, while antioxidant activity was analyzed using the 2,2-Azino-bis (3-ethyl-benzot-hiazoline- 6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) & cupric ion reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC) methods.

  3. Pain, hyperalgesia

    Plant part used: aerial parts.

    Scientific references (short excerpts)

Short excerpts only (not the full article). Full reference records are in the Lapo v2 application.

    • According to KINASIH YD (2024)

Excerpt One of the types of purslane that is often found in the community is Portulaca grandiflora or purslane of the magenta flower variety. The pharmacological effects of purslane are antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulator, & analgesic.

    • According to CINCIN-KIRANA B (2022)

Excerpt Portulaca grandiflorais known to contain secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids, polysaccharides, sterol, carotenoid, & polyphenol acid. This research was aimed to determine the effectof PG herbs extract (PG )treatment on analgesic effect.

Further indications (including other extraction modes where applicable), dosages, precautions for use, and the full scientific references (complete records, not only the short excerpts above) are available in the complete monographic record in the Lapo v2 application.
