Excerpt Ethanolic extract from Sapindus saponaria showed Cytotoxicity around 80% on initial experiments, & therefore were Selected for a dose-response analysis, further demonstrating a significant and reproductible dose-dependent effect with IC50 61.63 ug/mL after 48h. DISCUSSION: One ethanolic extract showed a significant dose-dependent Antiproliferative activity.

Excerpt Sapindus saponaria bark, root, & fruits are used as sedatives & to treat gastric ulcer & also demonstrate diuretic & expectorant effects. Conclusion: SS extracts & fractions presented anti-ophidian activity & could be used as an adjuvant to serum therapy or for its supplementation, & in addition, as a rich source of potential inhibitors of enzymes involved in several pathophysiological human & animal diseases.

Excerpt The petroleum ether, ethanol & chloroform extracts of Sapindus saponaria leaf having extractive value 10 gm, 7.9 gm & 6.4 gm (Table 1) on phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, steroids, flavonoids, glycosides & phenols as chemical constituents. In vitro antibacterial studies of these leaf extracts were carried out on four medically important bacterial strains, including Streptococcus faecalis, Streptococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus peritolis which were procured from the Microbial Type Culture and Collection, Chandigarh, India, using agar disc diffusion method.

Excerpt Study of in vivo antifungal activity of the hydroalcoholic extract (HE) & n-BuOH extract (BUTE) of Sapindus saponaria against azole-susceptible & -resistant human vaginal Candida spp. The rats were treated intravaginally with 0.1 mL of HE or BUTE at concentrations of 1%, 2.5% & 5%; 100 μg/mL of FLU (treatment positive control); or distilled water (negative control) at 1, 24, & 48 h after induction of the infection, & the progress of VVC was monitored by culturing & scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
