According to Ghosh T (2008)
Excerpt The extract produced significant decrease in the blood glucose level when compared with the controls in alloxan induced hyperglycemic rats both in the single dose as well as multiple dose experiment at the tested dose level and is comparable with the standard drug Glibenclamide. Thus, the extract might have insulin like activity & the Antihyperglycemic effect of the extract might be due to an increase in peripheral glucose consumption as well as protection against oxidative damage in alloxanised diabetes.
-
According to Ghosh T (2014)
Excerpt Ghosh T et al, Antihyperglycemic activity of stigmasterol isolated from Bacopa monnieri Linn aerial parts against alloxan induced diabetic rats.
-
According to Upadhyay P (2015)
Excerpt In this study we explored a new pharmacological intervention by investigating the neuroprotective effects of a standardized polyherbal formulation (PF) [(Bacopa monnieri (20 mg/kg), Hippophaé rhamnoides (25 mg/kg) & Dioscorea bulbifera (15 mg/kg), p.o] on passive avoidance learning (PAL) & memory in normal & streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) leads to elevated levels of plasma glucose & causes neurological complications including impairment of learning & memory processes.

According to Ghosh T (2007)
Excerpt The ethanolic extract of Bacopa monnieri Aerial parts were studied for its hepatoprotective effect on CCl₄-induced Hepatotoxic rats. The extract was also found to decrease significantly the CCl₄-induced elevation of lipid peroxidation & increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes (SOD & CAT) & GSH level in the liver of extract treated rats when compared with CCl₄ induced rats.CAT) & GSH level in the liver of extract treated rats when compared with CCl₄ induced rats.
-
According to Ghosh T (2008)
Excerpt This article describes the antihyperglycaemic activity, in vivo antioxidant potential, effect on glycosylation of hemoglobin and in-vitro peripheral utilisation of glucose of the ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of B monnieri. Administration of the extract & Glibenclamide significantly decreased the levels of TBARS, increased the content of GSH and increased the activity of SOD & CAT in liver of diabetic rats.
-
According to Gomathinayagan R (2004)
Excerpt Antioxidant enzymes such as catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) & the levels of glutathione (GSH) & the rate of lipid peroxidation (LPO) in the liver & kidney tissues were assessed.

According to Russo A (2005)
Excerpt Bacopa monnieri (BM), a traditional Ayurvedic medicine, used for centuries as a memory enhancing, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, sedative & antiepileptic agent. In addition, researchers have evaluated the anti-inflammatory, cardiotonic & other pharmacological effects of BM preparations/ extracts.
-
According to Valotto-Neto LJ (n.d.)
Excerpt Bacopa monnieri (BM), an herb with active compounds, such as bacosides A & B, betulinic acid, loliolide, asiatic acid, & quercetin, demonstrates the potential for brain health. BM has anti-apoptotic & antioxidant actions and can repair damaged neurons, stimulate kinase activity, restore synaptic function, improve nerve transmission, & increase neuroprotection.
-
According to SRIVASTATA P (2024)
Excerpt However, it is vital to comprehend the active phytochemical components of Bacopa monnieri extract (BME) & their molecular mechanisms in order to better grasp the effect of BME on neurological illnesses & diseases. The popular perennial creeping plant known as Bacopa monnieri (also known as Brahmi) is being utilized in the Indian Ayurvedic medicine practice.
