Excerpt Throughout the experimental period (60 days), diabetic rats exhibited many symptoms including loss of body weight, hyperglycemia, polyuria, polydipsia, renal enlargement & renal dysfunction. In addition, BO extract attenuated the adverse effect of diabetes on malondialdehyde, glutathione & superoxide dismutase activity as well as catalase activity & total antioxidant capacity of diabetic kidneys.

The levels of NO, MDA, as well as serum AST, ALT, total bilirubin, TC, T.G, LDL, & TSH, showed an elevation while, HDL, T3 & T4 showed the decline in rats treated with CCl4 as compared to control.
