      Extrait Throughout the experimental period (60 days), diabetic rats exhibited many symptoms including loss of body weight, hyperglycemia, polyuria, polydipsia, renal enlargement & renal dysfunction. In addition, BO extract attenuated the adverse effect of diabetes on malondialdehyde, glutathione & superoxide dismutase activity as well as catalase activity & total antioxidant capacity of diabetic kidneys.

      Extrait Diabetic rats showed reduced body weight gain & heavier kidney & liver weights than normal rats, while oral administration of the BuOH fraction at an oral dose of 100 or 200 mg/kg body weight/d for 20 d attenuated the physiological changes induced by diabetes. The antioxidative effect & protective potential against diabetes of the broccoli flower were investigated both in vitro & in a diabetic rat model.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) was induced in the SD rats with high fat diet & injecting a low dose (35 mg/kg) of streptozocin.

      Extrait The effect of AVOE (avocado), GE (Ginger) & CE (Cabbage) extracts separately on liver NO (nitric oxide), MDA (malondialdehyde), as well as serum AST (aspartate aminotransferase), ALT (alanine aminotransferase), total bilirubin, TC (total cholesterol), T.G (triglyceride), HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein), LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein), TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), T3 (Triiodothyronine), T4 (Thyroxine) in rats treated & untreated with CCl4 (carbon tetrachloride) was studied. The levels of NO, MDA, as well as serum AST, ALT, total bilirubin, TC, T.G, LDL, & TSH, showed an elevation while, HDL, T3 & T4 showed the decline in rats treated with CCl4 as compared to control.

      Extrait CCl 4 induced hepatotoxicity in all treated animals was evident by elevated serum GOT, GPT, ALP, GGT and bilirubin levels and simultaneous fall in NP-SH and increased MDA activities in liver tissue.       Extrait Moreover, it significantly reduced Thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance levels in serum, hepatic & renal mitochondria. In addition, oral administration of the BuOH fraction to diabetic rats led to significant decreases in serum glucose & glycosylated protein, while it resulted in the increase of serum albumin, implying that the BuOH fraction improves the abnormal metabolism of glucose & protein that leads to oxidative stress.
