      Excerpt In the present study, we investigated the neuroprotective effect of ethanolic extract of Cleome viscosa (EECV) against streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic neuropathy in Wistar rats. Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a secondary microvascular complication of diabetes causing damage to the nerves and is characterized by fall in nerve conduction velocity, severe pain, impaired sensation and degeneration of nerve fibres.

      Excerpt The current research is to develop an easy & eco-friendly method for the synthesis of three different concentrations of silver nanoparticles (1mMCvAgNPs, 2mMCvAgNPs & 3mMCvAgNPs) using aqueous whole plant extract of Cleome viscosa & to evaluate their antibacterial, antioxidant & antidiabetic properties. Hence, to validate our results, the in vivo studies at the molecular level are needed to develop CV as an antibacterial, antioxidant & anti-diabetic agent.

Results: The activities of serum aminotransferases & the hepatic content of lipid peroxides were increased whereas liver antioxidants, such as glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione réductase (GR) were decreased in B(a)P-treatment group than control, but all these levels were significantly and dose dependently reversed by the treatment with EECV.
