      Excerpt In view of the high antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties of the exotic Brazilian fruit Euterpe oleracea & its methanolic extract was obtained by solid-phase extraction (SPE). Specifically, the açaí extract at an optimal & nutritionally relevant concentration of 0.1 g/ml prevented Mn-induced oxidative stress by (1) restoring GSH GSSG ratio & net glutamate uptake, (2) protecting astrocytic membranes from lipid peroxidation, & (3) decreasing Mn-induced expression of erythroid 2-related fac-tor (Nrf2) protein.

      Excerpt This study investigated the therapeutic potential of Euterpe oleracea extract (açai) on the growth & survival of endometriotic lesions using an experimental model. Our results suggest that açai effectively suppressed the establishment & growth of endometriotic lesions, & this agent is a promising novel pharmacological therapeutic treatment for endometriosis.
