Excerpt Hence the present study was aimed to investigate the hepatoprotective activity of ethanolic extract of Hedyotis corymbosa which was separated in to different fractions against carbon tetrachloride In toxification. The elevated levels of SGOT & SGPT were significantly decreased by ether and butanol fractions at P<0.001 & butanone & Ethanol at p < 0.05, whereas petroleum ether & ethyl acetate did not show any significant reduction in the level of SGOT & SGPT.

Excerpt In the present study, the hepatoprotective effect of the methanolic extract of the whole plant of Hedyotis corymbosa against paracetamol overdose-induced liver damage in Wistar rats was studied. The methanolic extract of the plant produced significant hepatoprotective effects as evidenced by decreased serum enzyme activities, SGPT, SGOT, SAKP and serum bilirubin & an almost normal histological architecture of the liver, in treated groups, compared to the controls.
