Excerpt Anticancer activities of these extracts were displayed through their ability to inhibit the growth of cancer cell lines, such as MCF-7 (breast cancer), SNU-1 (gastric cancer), & WiDr (colon adenocarcinoma), in concentration- & time-dependent manner. Further studies also revealed that SP extracts could induce apoptosis in MCF-7 & SNU-1 cancer cells through extrinsic & intrinsic pathway.

Excerpt The aim of this study is to examine possible antioxidant & antiproliferative activities of the different extracts from sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas [L.] Lam ‘Tainong 57’) organs. The antiproliferative activities of sweet potato were studied in vitro using human lymphoma NB4 cells, & the following results were found: water extract of vein had the highest antiproliferative activity with an EC50 of 449.6 ± 27.73 μg/mL, followed by water extract of storage root, water extract of leaf, ethanol extract of storage root, & ethanol extract of leaf.
