Excerpt Of 5 Holstein-Friesian & 3 Brown Swiss male calves from 7 to 20 months old & of weight from 155 to 620 lb, 5 had rumen fistulae and were given dried ground stems, leaves & beans of Cassia occidentalis into the rumen. There were extensive myodegeneretaion particularly on the hind limbs, some signs of liver necrosis & hemorrhagic kidney.

Excerpt The methanolic extracts of Cassia occidentalis, Callistemon viminalis, Cleome viscosa & Mimosa hamata were assessed for their cytotoxic properties against a human breast cancer cell line MCF-7 by using the Sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay. Conclusion: The selected botanicals with their anti-angiogenic & antioxidant potential could be considered as natural resources in the identification of possible therapeutic agents for breast cancer.

Results: It was observed that aqueous extract of CO (whole plant) had more potential than hydro-alcoholic & alcoholic extracts against HCT-15, SW-620, PC-3, MCF-7, SiHa, & OVCAR-5 human cancer cell lines at 100, 30, & 10 µg/ml in a dose-dependent manner.
