Excerpt This study concludes that SS leaf extract exhibits a hypoglycemic effect and antihyperglycemic effect in non-diabetic rats after induction of hyperglycemia with 2 g/kg bw. orally had significantly decreased blood glucose by 50.32 and 47.29 % per hour when compared with rats treated with insulin stimulating substance, glibenclamide (10 mg/kg bw.; P< 0.05).

From our findings, it can be concluded that SS contains some significant phytochemicals that can exhibit desired therapeutic activities such as hypoglycemia, anti-arrythmia & antimicrobial.
