The phenolic & flavonoid contents, scavenger radical activity (DPPH), antimicrobial activity & chemical analysis were also evaluated.

      Excerpt This study showed that the 100 % ethanolic (EtOH) extract was favorable for antifungal & antioxidant activities & did not present significant cytotoxicity against the three studied cell lines, indicating that SP leaves are promising for the development of new antimicrobials. Antimicrobial activity was evaluated by the MIC using the 96-well plate microdilution technique of ethanolic, hexanic & dicloromethanic extracts of dried SP leaves against bacteria, yeast & filamentous fungi.
