Extrait The test of antidiabetic activity was used in vivo method in white male Swiss Webster mice which was induced by alloxan (i.p) & Glibenclamide as positive control drug (0.7 mg/kg bw). The method was conducted by separation of ethanol extract by LLE, antidiabetic test of fractions, separation of most active fraction into subfractions by VLC & examine the antidiabetic activity of subfractions.

Extrait The antioxidant (in vitro radical scavenging activity) & antimicrobial (directed toward Staphylococcus aureus ACTT6538) activities were significantly correlated with the trans-rosmarinic acid concentration of the extract evidencing that these key biological activities were retained following the extraction using this validated method. Plectranthus scutellarioides leaves constitute one of the richest sources of trans-rosmarinic acid, a well-known antioxidant & antimicrobial phenolic compound.

Extrait The strongest activity (MIC) was found against multidrug resistant strains of Escherichia coli (0.625 mg/mL) & methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (2.5 mg/mL) that shows the potential of this essential oil. This study covers chemical profiling of leaf essential oil of Plectranthus scutellarioides along with the first report on its antibacterial activity.
