      Excerpt Also the efficiency of licorice ethanolic extract as anticancer agent for breast, colon & liver was evaluated. Study revealed that ethanolic extract has strong antihepatic cancer activity at 16.1 µg/ml & anti breast cancer activity at 100 µg/ml, while it has no effect in colon cancer at 100 µg.

      Excerpt BAX and BCL2 gene expression levels in HepG2 cells treated by ethanol extract of GG were 1.90 ± 0.01 (P<0.05), & 0.64 ± 0.15, respectively (P<0.05); in HepG2 cells treated with aqueous extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra, the BAX & BCL2 gene expression levels were 1.4 ± 0.4 (P<0.05), and 0.70 ± 0.5 (P<0.05), respectively.Conclusion: GG extract (especially ethanoic extract) has potential uses for treatment of liver cancer. Glycyrrhiza glabra plants are known to have anti- cancer effects in traditional medicine with high antioxidant properties and few side effects.
