The data represented in this study demonstrated that the amount of phenolic compound and anthocyanin content of sugarcane peel, & determined the antiproliferative activity of sugarcane peel by cytotoxicity assay which shows 51.2% inhibition HT29 cell line at concentration of 0.625µg/ml.

Excerpt The different concentrations of chloroform & ethanol extracts (50mg/ml & 100mg/ml) against different Gram negative (Pseudomonas putida ATCC700007 Pseudomonas mirabilis ATCC14153, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC10662) & Gram positive (Bacillus subtilis ATCC11774, Staphylococcus wernari ATCC 27836, Staphylococcus aureus ATCCBAA1026) organisms using well diffusion method, was observed & the results were compared with standard Gentamycin, all the extracts were found to possess significant antibacterial activity. The present work highlights the antibacterial & Anthelmintic activities of Saccharum officinarum leaf extracts.

Excerpt A mixture of fatty acids obtained from sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.) wax oil (FAM), in which the main constituents are palmitic, oleic, linoleic, & linolenic acids, was evaluated in two models of inflammation: zymosan-induced arthritis & in the tail test for psoriasis, both on mice. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the anti-inflammatory effect of sugar cane by-products in experimental models of arthritis & psoriasis.
