Extrait This review aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of ethnobotanical uses, chemical constituents, posology, & toxicology of Hyptis suaveolens, & to address the significant medicinal benefits in order to promote its application. To date, pharmacological studies have demonstrated the significant activities of this plant that support uses such as antimicrobial, antidiabetic, antiulcer, & antiinflammatory.

    • Selon Mishra P (2021)

Extrait Short conclusion: Hyptis suaveolens contains unique terpenoid metabolites like suaveolic acid, suaveolol, methyl suaveolate, beta-sitosterol, ursolic acid, & phenolic compound like rosamarinic acid, methyl rosamarinate that have potentiality to substitute the traditional drugs as therapeutic agent against the resistant & newly emerged bacterial and viral pathogens. The aim of the present study is to review the existence of medicinally important secondary metabolites and possible pharmacological and pharmacognostic importance of under-explored weed plant species Hyptis suaveolens (L.) Poit., to explore the potentiality of the plant for developing & designing the drugs for future.

    • Selon Frota-Machado FD (2021)

Extrait In folk medicine Hyptis suaveolens (Lamiaceae) has been reported to relieve respiratory & gastrointestinal infections, indigestion, cold, pain, fever, cramps, skin diseases, gastric ulcer & inflammatory disorders. Nevertheless, only Hs-HexF was able to reduce colonic wall thickness, edema & diffuse inflammatory cell infiltration & to prevent GSH depletion in the acute model of ulcerative colitis.

    • Selon Grassi P (2006)

Extrait The anti-inflammatory properties of these compounds could contribute to the antiphlogistic activity of extracts of Hyptis species & confirm the rational use of HS extracts in dermatological diseases. Separation & isolation of the two main compounds suaveolol & methyl suaveolate from leaves of chichinguaste (Hyptis suaveolens Poit., Lamiaceae) could be achieved by means ofrepeated column chromatography & repeated preparative thin layer chromatography.
