     Extrait To evaluate the antihyperglycaemic activity of the ethanol extract of roots of Vetiveria zizanioïdes in alloxan induced diabetic rats. zizanioïdes (100, 250, 500 & 750 mg/kg p.w.o) significantly reduced the blood-glucose level at the end of 28th days in alloxan induced diabetes rats.

     Extrait Both Vetiveria zizanioïdes & Foeniculum vulgare are the common source of the well known oil, particularly used in aromatherapy and regarded as a tonic to the nervous system. Vetiveria zizanioïdes (100mg/kg) & Foeniculum vulgare (200mg/kg) produced significant antidepressant effect by reduction in immobility period as compared to control.

     Extrait The ethanolic extract of roots of Vetiveria zizanioïdes (VZ) was screened for gastroprotective activity by using Aspirin + pylorus ligation induced peptic ulcers in rats in which ulcer index, gastric wall mucus, antioxidant enzyme level like SOD, GSH, Catalase, & LPO in stomach were determined. It was found that animals belonging to VZ group reduced the ulcer index, increased mucus content as well as restored the antioxidant parameters in stomach and increased PH of gastric juice, decreased gastric volume and total acidity significantly as compared to ulcerated group of animals.
