A significant increase (p < 0.01) in the luteinizing hormone, Prolactin, insulin, testosterone, estrone, & estradiol levels & decrease in follicle stimulating hormone & progesterone hormone levels in the PCOS rats were observed, which were normalized in the ESECB drug-treated animals.

To assess the antidiabetic activity, varied concentrations of the ethanolic extracts of both plants were tested in oral glucose tolerance test to determine the blood glucose levels in normal and alloxan-induced (150 mg/kg b.w) diabetic experimental rats for 21 days.

Hyperglycemic rats treated with extract in three different doses of 200, 400 & 600 mg/kg of body weight orally for 21 days shows a significant decrease in blood glucose, HbA1c, free amino groups whereas an increase in serum insulin level, liver glycogen contents with a significant improvement in glucose tolerance.
