Extrait Thus, the objective of current work was to ascertain the possible preventive & therapeutic efficacies of Cuphea ignea extract in a mouse model of lung tumorigenesis & its cytotoxicity toward the A549 human lung cancer cell line. The results revealed that the oral administration of benzo(a)pyrene resulted in increases in relative lung weight, serum levels of tumor markers (ADA, AHH, & LDH), & the inflammatory marker NF-κB, & a decreased total antioxidant capacity compared with the control.

Extrait Conclusions: CI extract showed a potential gastroprotective effect on ethanol-induced gastric ulcer, & its effect may be mediated through suppression of oxidative stress & gastric inflammation. Therefore, the present study was performed to evaluate the gastroprotective effect of aqueous ethanolic extract of CI aerial parts on ethanol-induced gastric ulcer.

Extrait The results showed its potential to decrease the blood pressure & to restore the changes in ACE & nitric oxide levels in addition to the oxidative stress parameters in L-NAME-induced hypertensive rats. CI can be used as a complementary treatment in hypertension & other cardiovascular complications.

Extrait The aim of this research was to study the antihypertensive activity of the plant by applying a bio-guided fractionation scheme of the leaves, stems, & flowers using in vitro angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) & renin inhibition assays to identify the active organ & its respective active fractions. Some Cuphea members are traditionally used in treatment of hypertension.

Extrait The results revealed that the ethanolic extract of the leaves in two doses (250 & 500 mg/kg b.wt.) significantly normalized the elevated systolic blood pressure in N(G)-nitro-L-arginine-methyl ester-induced hypertension in rats. The aim of this study is to verify the in vivo antihypertensive potential of CI & to explore its metabolic profile using a UHPLC-Orbitrap-HRMS technique.

Extrait One hour after ethanol administration blood samples were collected & then stomachs of sacrificed rats were subjected to biochemical, macroscopic & microscopic studies. ignea aerial parts extract at doses of 250 & 500 mg/kg body weight & Ranitidine (a reference drug) at a dose of 30 mg/kg body weight were orally administrated daily for 7 days before ulcer induction.
