Extrait The different extracts of the Dodonaea viscosa were tested for anti-diabetic activity, by glucose tolerance test in normal rats & alloxan induced diabetic rats. In long term treatment of alloxan induced diabetic rats, the degree of protection was determined by measuring blood glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol & urea levels on 0,3,5,7 & 10th day.

Extrait The oral administration of aqueous: methanol (70:30) extract of the Dodonaea viscosa leaves significantly (P<0.01) decreased the raised parameters (triglyceride, total cholesterol & LDL-cholesterol) to normal values. It is concluded from the study that aqueous: methanolic (70:30) extract of Dodonaea viscosa leaves exerts antihyperlipidemic & hepatoprotective effects in the alloxan-induced diabetic rabbits,.

Extrait In the present study we investigated the hepatoprotective potential of the methanolic extract of the whole plant of DV & its ethyl acetate, aqueous, butanol & n-hexane fractions against carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄) induced hepatoxicity in rats. HPLC fingerprinting suggested that Hautriwaic acid present in the methanolic extract & its ethyl acetate, & aqueous fractions may be responsible for this hepatoprotective activity of DV which was confirmed by in vivo experiments,.

Extrait The intake of DV extracts restored the level of hepatic enzymes (ALP, AST ALT, & Direct bilirubin), hematological parameters (RBCs, WBCs, & Platelets), total protein, & liver antioxidant enzymes (SOD, GPx, and CAT) after a decline in levels by CCL4. Dodonaea viscosa flowers are found to have a protective effect against oxidative stress produced by CCL4 in the liver, kidney, & spleen.

Extrait 5 A southern Brazilian outbreak of acute hepatic insufficiency in which 14 dairy animals died after consumption of D viscosa has been reported. Liquid-liquid partitioning of a portion of an EtOH extract of the roots of D viscosa into hexane, CH2Cl2 & aqueous MeOH fractions indicated that the CH2Cl2 fraction (326.5 mg) was the most active fraction, with an IC50 value of 1.0 μg/mL.
