Extrait The objective of the present study was to evaluate the antihyperglycemic & antinociceptive potential of methanol extract of Amorphophallus campanulatus corms in Swiss albino mice. A standard antihyperglycemic drug, glibenclamide, when administered at a dose of 10 mg per kg body weight reduced blood glucose level by 40.7%.

Extrait Diabetes was induced intraperitoneally by injecting 140 mg/kg body weight of alloxan dose, & 500 mg/kg bd.wt of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius powder was administered orally for six weeks of both diabetic & non-diabetic experimental rats. This study’s objectives were to explore the nutrient analysis of elephant foot yam tuber & observe the anti-hyperglycemic effect on both diabetic and non-diabetic rats.

Extrait In the present study, the effect of the acetone extract of elephant-foot yam (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius (Dennst.) Nicolson) at 0.1 & 0.25% in the diet of streptozotocin-induced male Wistar diabetic rats was studied. The results clearly indicate that the acetone extract of elephant foot yam is an effective anti-diabetic agent for streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

Selon Rahman SS (2021)
Extrait Diabetic patients usually avoid germinated endosperm of sugar palm (GESP) & elephant foot yam tuber (EFYT), fearing that these may further deteriorate existing hyperglycemia. The results clearly showed that these foodstuffs significantly (P < 0.001) reduced FBG levels of alloxan-induced diabetic rats.

Extrait Administration of ACME significantly inhibited the NDEA-induced increase of hepatic nodule incidence, nodule multiplicity, & serum biochemical indices, and improved the hepatocellular architecture in a dose-dependent manner. In this study, we investigated the curative effect of Amorphophallus campanulatus tuber methanolic extract (ACME) on N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in experimental rats.

Selon Basu S (2013)
Extrait The elevated serum enzymatic levels of AST, ALT, ALP & total protein were significantly restored towards normal by pre‐treatment with ethanolic extract of AC (p<0.001).However, no significant alteration in the liver marker enzymes a&the antioxidant markers in liver tissue was observed in the only extract treated groups when compared to control, indicating their non-toxic nature. Conclusion: The results of this study strongly indicate that ethanolic extract of AC has potent hepatoprotective action against ethanol induced hepatic damage particularly by scavenging free radicals and combating oxidative stress.

Selon Jain S (2009)
Extrait In the present study, the hepatoprotective activity of ethanolic & aqueous extracts of Amorphophallus campanulatus (Roxb.) tubers were evaluated against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) induced hepatic damage in rats. The results of this study strongly indicate that AC tubers have potent hepatoprotective action against carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic damage in rats.

Extrait Hepatotoxicity was assessed by quantifying the serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) & lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). The antioxidant potential of ACME were also evaluated by the estimation of catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), reduced glutathione (GSH) & lipid peroxidation (Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) in hepatic and renal tissues.
