Extrait n this study we tested the cytotoxic effect of Oman’s Cymbopogon schoenanthus on breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231), cervical cancer cells (HEp-2) & Vero cells (normal) and we analyzed their chemical profile by Gas Chromatography Coupled Mass Spectrometry (GCMS). Conclusion: It is clearly evidenced from the results that CS derives active principles specifically targeting tumor cells with very low toxicity on normal cells.

Extrait nervatus growing in Northern Sudan were examined for their chemical composition, antiproliferative activity against human breast carcinoma & human colon adenocarcinoma cell lines, antioxidant activity (phosphomolybdenum, antiradical, reducing power, & ferrous chelating), & enzyme inhibition activity against acetylcholinesterase butyryl-cholinesterase, tyrosinase, α-glucosidase, and α-amylase. In conclusion, oils from these two Cymbopogon species could be new natural agents with functional properties for food, cosmetics, & pharmaceutical industries.

Extrait Methods: The chemical characterization of infusions & ethanol: water (50:50, v/v) extracts from Cymbopogon citratus & Cymbopogon schoenanthus was achieved by HPLC-DAD. The aim of this work consisted on expanding the knowledge on the chemical composition of different extracts from Cymbopogon spp., & on the evaluation of their anti-inflammatory potential in cell & cell-free systems.

Selon Abdoul-Latif MF (2022)
Extrait The aim of this research was to evaluate the essential oils of two medicinal plants from Djibouti: Cymbopogon schoenanthus & Nepeta azurea in cytotoxic activity against thirteen (13) cancer cell lines (A2780, A549, HCT116, HEK-293, JIMT-T1, K562, MIA-Paca2, MRC5, NCI-N87, PC3, RT4, U2OS & U87-MG) & antibacterial activity against seven (7) Gram (−) strains (Acinetobacter baumannii, Enterobacter cloacae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica sv. The two essential oils showed inhibitory cytotoxicity activities of all the cancer cells tested; on the other hand, the antibacterial activities are only well-noticed for the CSEO oil at a concentration of 5% against K Pneumoniae, P aeruginosa, Corynebacterium sp., E faecalis & S aureus.

Extrait The extract proved to be highly selective & effective against breast & prostate cancer cell lines (MDA-MB-435, MCF-7, & DU 145) with IC50 as low as 0.7913 ± 0.14, 12.841 ± 0.21, & 30.51 ± 0.18 µg/ml, respectively. In silico modeling was performed to investigate the binding orientation & affinity of the major identified compounds against Polo-like kinase (PLK1 protein) a cancer molecular target using molecular docking & molecular dynamic whereas eudesm-5-en-11-ol, piperitone, & 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran displayed better binding affinity & stability against PLK1 compared to the reference drug.

Extrait Methods: The current study recorded a new therapeutic role of the well-known medicinal plants for kidney stones [Ammi visnaga (AVE), Petroselinum crispum (PCE), Hordeum vulgare (HVE), & Cymbopogon schoenanthus (CSE)]. Conclusion: Thus, the studied plant extracts, especially AVE can be considered as promising extracts in the management of nephrotoxicity & other chronic diseases associated with oxidative stress & inflammation.

Extrait The chemical composition, antioxidant activities & acetylcholinesterase inhibitory properties of the essential oils from fresh leaves, dried leaves & roots collected from three different locations in southern Tunisia, were evaluated. The greatest acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity (IC50 = 0.26 ± 0.03 mg mL−1) was exhibited by the essential oil of the fresh leaves from the Mountain region.
