Extrait Administration of extract in streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced diabetic rats, significantly decreased the blood glucose level (P<0.001) comparable to Glibenclamide (600 µg/kg), restored the lipid profile, showed improvement in body weight, liver glycogen content, glycosylated haemoglobin, plasma Malondialdehyde, glutathione level & serum insulin levels in diabetic rats. Materials & methods: The antihyperglycaemic effect of ethanol extract at 250mg/kg & 500mg/kg is studied in normal, glucose loaded hyperglycemic é streptozotocin (STZ) induced Type2 diabetic rats.

Extrait To investigate the hypoglycemic, antidyslipidemic, hepatoprotective & anti-lipid peroxidation effects of hydromethanol leaf extract of Helianthus annuus (HLEHA) in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Glibenclamide (GLB) 2 mg/kg was used as a reference drug (positive control) and 5 % Tween-20 solution in water was used as negative control.

Extrait : The aim of this study was to determine the hypoglycaemic effects & compare some biochemical parameters of aqueous extracts of four plants; Anacardium occidentale stem bark (CS), Moringa oleifera (ML), Vernonia amygdalina (BL) & Helianthus annuus seeds (SF) on alloxan induced diabetic rats. Significant reduction (p<0.05) was recorded in glucose level of the alloxan induced diabetic rats treated with CS, ML, BL & SF, expressing their hypoglycaemic potentials & competing favourably with the reference drug metformin.

Extrait The present study evaluates the antihyperglycemic, antiperoxidative & antihyperlipidemic activities of saponins from Helianthus annuus roots in alloxan induced diabetic rats. Results: suggest that saponins from HA root can enhance the antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic & antioxidant properties in alloxan-induced diabetic rats, & may have the potential to be used in the prevention or in the management of diabetes.

Extrait To investigate the anti-inflammatory & analgesic effects of the ethanol extract of leaves of Helianthus annuus in acclimatized Wistar rats. Conclusions: These observations confirmed the presence of a strong anti-inflammatory & antinociceptive activity in the ethanol extract of the leaves of HA & therefore validated the folkloric use of the leaves of this plant in treatment of proinflammatory, post traumatic situations.

Extrait The objective of this study was to evaluate the anti-diarrheal & antihistaminic activity of ethanolic extract of 250 mg/kg & 500 mg/kg body weight using castor oil induced diarrhea & gastrointestinal transit model for anti-diarrheal activity & histaminic induced bronchoconstriction on guinea pig & microsbock model on rabbits for antihistaminic activity. Results also confirmed that HA decrease the severity of diarrhea & possesses the anti-histaminic potential to treat allergic disorders.

Extrait The preventive action of diuresis, diarrhea & inflammatory diseases, besides the effects of relief of asthmatic symptoms, gastric protection, healing, anti-inflammatory & antimicrobial action were recognized regarding the pharmacological properties of HA. Extrait The time & dose dependent effects of ingestion of the ethanol extract of the leaves of Helianthus annuus, 0.5g/kg & 2g/kg body weight for 28days, on the histology of the testes, Epididymal sperm properties, blood levels of Testosterone, Follicle stimulating hormone & Luteinizing hormone of male Wistar rats were investigated in two phases. We conclude from this study that the ethanol extract of the leaves of HA possesses anti-spermatogenic /antifertility potentials that may be harnessed for contraception but further investigation in this regard is required.
