      Extrait Only the modification of IONPs with DMSO extract improved their antibacterial properties against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus luteus, Enterococcus faecalis, Bacillus cereus) from a MIC value of 2.5-10 mg/mL to 0.313-1.25 mg/mL. The aim of this work is to synthesize IONPs using a mixed method, i.e., chemical co-precipitation combined with biogenic surface modification, using extracts from spent hops (Humulus lupulus L.) obtained as waste product from supercritical carbon dioxide hop extraction.

      Extrait In the present study, we developed a mixture of two hydroalcoholic extracts from the aerial parts of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench (ECP) & the cones of Humulus lupulus L. The ECP/HOP mixture showed a promising multitarget bioactivity profile, with combined cytoprotective, antioxidant, immunomodulating & antiviral activities, likely due to the peculiar Phyto complexes of both ECP & HOP, & often potentiated the effect of the single extracts.

As antiproliferative agents, XN (chalcone) & IX (flavanone isomer of XN) may have potential chemopreventive activity against breast & ovarian cancer in humans.

      Extrait Besides, the inhibitory effects of xanthohumol on human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines were attributed to apoptosis as indicated in the results of flow cytometry, fluorescent nuclear staining & electrophoresis of oligonucleosomal DNA fragments. Hop xanthohumol was more efficient in the growth inhibition of hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines than the flavonoids silibinin & naringin from thistle & citrus.

      Extrait Xanthohumol (X), isoxanthohumol (IX), 8-prenylnaringenin (8PN) & 6-prenylnaringenin (6PN), prenylflavonoids from hop (Humulus lupulus L.), were investigated for their cytotoxicity & the mechanism by which they exert cell death when incubated with prostate cancer cell lines PC-3 & DU145. Therefore, IX, 8PN & 6PN appear to be promising candidates for further investigation in prostate anticancer therapy.
