      Extrait Ethnobotanical information revealed that MC has been a folkloric repute for the treatment of several diseases like gastric ulcer, diarrhea, dysentery, cancer, rheumatism, hemorrhage, deep sinuses, leucorrhoea, hemorrhoid, inflammation, dyspepsia, anxiety, insomnia, diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary disorders, & skin diseases. Moreover, ethnopharmacological studies revealed that the plant is endowed with extensive pharmacological activities, including antimicrobial, antidiarrheal, antidiabetic, antispasmodic, vasodilator, antiulcer, antioxidant, anticancer, anxiolytic, sedative-hypnotic, & anti-inflammatory activities, among others.

      Extrait The tested materials (volatile oil, alcoholic & aqueous extracts, myricetin 3-O-β-glucopyranoside, myricetin 3-O-∝-rhamnopyranoside & gallic acid) showed significant antihyperglycemic, anti-inflammatory & antinociceptive effects as compared with control groups & reference drugs. Myrtus species are characterized by the presence of phenolic acids, flavonoids, tannins, volatile oils & fatty acids.
