      Extrait The effect of 200,400 & 800 mg/kg of ethanolic extract of Olea europaea leaves was evaluated in both glucose-loaded Wistar albino rats & in glucose uptake by using isolated rats hemidiaphragms. Their effects were compared to control rats administered with the vehicle & to a standard group administered with the standard drug Glibenclamide.

      Extrait The effect of ethanolic extraction of olive leaves on alloxan – induced diabetic rabbits and lipid profile has been investigated. The maximum hypoglycemic activity (about 20% reduction in blood glucose level) was obtained from the treatment of diabetic rabbits with 600mg/ kg.

      Extrait The antidiabetic effect of an alcohol extract of olive (Olea europaea L.) leaves was investigated in normal & streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The oral administration of the olive leaves extract (0.1, 0.25 & 0.5 g/kg body wt) for 14 days significantly decreased the serum glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, urea, uric acid, creatinine, aspartate amino transferase (AST) & alanine amino transferase (ALT) while it increased the serum insulin in diabetic rats but not in normal rats (p < 0.05).

      Extrait Olive tree (Olea europaea) leaves are well known for their effect on metabolism in particular as a traditional anti-diabetic & anti-hypertensive herbal drug. Our data suggest that both oleuropein & oleanolic acid are involved in the anti-diabetic effect of olive leaves & further emphasize the potential role of TGR5 agonists to improve metabolic disorders.

      Extrait Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP IV) is a serine amino (exo) peptidase which regulates various processes most notably plasma glucose homeostasis by cleaving incretin peptide hormones as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) & glucose-dependent insulin releasing polypeptide (GIP). The present study was designed to investigate the DPP IV inhibitory effects of sixteen plants having antidiabetic property in aqueous extracts in correlation with their protein content.

      Extrait We report the determination of phenolic compounds in olive leaves by reversed-phase HPLC/DAD, & the evaluation of their in vitro activity against several microorganisms that may be causal agents of human intestinal & respiratory tract infections, namely gram positive (Bacillus cereus, B. At low concentrations olive leaves extracts showed an unusual combined antibacterial & antifungal action, which suggest their great potential as nutraceuticals, particularly as a source of phenolic compounds.

      Extrait Therefore, water, 50% ethanol & 50% methanol extracts of Corregiola & Frantoio variety O-europaea leaves were investigated for their total phenolic compounds, total flavonoids & Oleuropein content, antioxidant capacity & anti-proliferative activity against MiaPaCa-2 pancreatic cancer cells. The extracts only had slight differences in their phytochemical properties, & at 100 & 200 μg/mL, all decreased the viability of the pancreatic cancer cells relative to controls.
