Results: PLO (100 & 200 mg/kg), piperine (25 & 50 mg/kg), & Glibenclamide (0.6 mg/kg) in respective groups of diabetic animals administered for 28 days reduced the blood glucose level in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

    • Selon Samudram P (2008)

Extrait Ethanolic extract from the leaves of Melia azedarach & seeds of Piper longum at a dose level of 50 mg kg-1 body weight was administered orally daily once for 14 days, prior to the administration of 0.2 mL of CCl4 kg-1 body weight for 7 days. The substantially elevated serum marker enzymes such as Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT), Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (SGPT), Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), Acid Phosphatase (ACP), Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), Gamma glutamyl Transferase (γGT) & 5 Nucleotidase (5NT), due to CCl4 treatment were restored towards normalization in rats pretreated with BHEE.

    • Selon Gurumurthy P (2012)

Extrait Hepatoprotective effect of aqueous extract of Piper longum & piperine when administered with anti-tubercular drugs.

    • Selon Patel JA (2009)

Extrait for 21 days), a significant hepatoprotective effect was observed in CCl4 induced hepatic damage as evident from decreased level of serum enzymes, total bilirubin & direct bilirubin. Piper longum (fruits & roots powder) is given with boiled milk in the Indian traditional system of medicine for the treatment of liver ailments & jaundice.

    • Selon Sunila ES (2005)

Extrait EEPLF reduced the elevated levels of glutathione pyruvate transaminase (GPT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), & lipid peroxidation (LPO) in liver & serum of radiation treated animals. The radioprotective property of an ethanolic extract of Piper longum fruits (EEPLF) was investigated in Swiss mice.

    • Selon Shah AH (1998)

Extrait Acute (24 hours) & chronic (90 days) oral toxicity studies on the ethanolic extracts of common spices Cinnamomum zeylanicum bark & Piper longum fruits were carried out in mice. longum caused a significant increase in the weight of the lungs & spleen of the treated animals compared to the control.

    • Selon Sunila ES (2004)

Extrait Alcoholic extract of the fruits of the plant Piper longum & its component piperine was studied for their immunomodulatory & antitumor activity. Administration of alcoholic extract of PL (10 mg/dose/animal) as well as piperine (1.14 mg/dose/animal) could inhibit the solid tumor development in mice induced with DLA cells and increase the life span of mice bearing Ehrlich ascites carcinoma tumor to 37.3 & 58.8%, respectively.

    • Selon Mitra S (2024)

Extrait The most frequently caused malignancy in women globally, breast cancer (BC), has been demonstrated to be significantly inhibited by PL. Piperlongumine (PL), an alkaloid found primarily in the fruits & roots of the plant Piper longum L.

    • Selon Urolagin DK (2018)

Extrait Here, we investigated the anti-cancer effects of 3 drug extracts-Vitis vinifera-Grape seeds (GSE), Ixora coccinea flower & Piper longum root extract against breast cancer treatment. The aim of present work is to find out the invitro cytotoxic effect of the constituents of polyherbal extract on MCF-7 human breast cancer cells.

    • Selon Ovadje P (2014)

Extrait To scientifically assess & validate the anticancer potential of an ethanolic extract of the fruit of the long pepper (PLX), a plant of the piperaceae family that has been used in traditional medicine, especially Ayurveda & investigate the anticancer mechanism of action of PLX against cancer cells. Results : Our results indicated that an ethanolic long pepper extract selectively induces caspase-independent apoptosis in cancer cells, without affecting non-cancerous cells, by targeting the mitochondria, leading to dissipation of the mitochondrial membrane potential & increase in ROS production.

    • Selon Park JA (2019)

Extrait Piperlongumine (PL), a natural alkaloid compound isolated from long pepper (Piper longum), can selectively kill cancer cells, but not normal cells, by accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). PARP cleavage & positive annexin V level were increased during PL treatment with FosB overexpression whereas PARP cleavage & positive annexin V level were decreased during PL treatment with siFosB transfection, implying that FosB might be a proapoptotic protein for induction of cell death in PL-treated MCF7 breast cancer cells.
