Extrait Acetaminophen-induced liver injury represents the most frequent cause of drug-induced liver failure in the world. The results demonstrated that PO was an effective anti-oxidative agent, which could, to some extent, reverse APAP-induced hepatotoxicity by regulating the reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the liver of mice.

Extrait At the end of study, no significant changes were observed in liver steatosis grade, insulin, liver enzymes, total bilirubin, lipid profile, & blood pressure between the two groups. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of PO hydroalcoholic extract in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Extrait In present study, carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) was used to induce acute liver damage in mice & the protective effects of ethanol extract of Portulaca Oleracea (PO) were examined. In addition, in cultured hepatic cells, PO increased the NF-κB luciferase reporter gene activity and upregulated the level of phosphorylation of p65, but had no effects on mice liver SOD activity & MDA level.

Extrait Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is the richest green leafy vegetable source of omega-3, especially alpha linolenic acid (ALA). Compared with baseline, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (-9 [-17, 0.50] mg/dl; p = .007), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (-4 [-10, -0.50] mg/dl; p = .001), gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT) (-6.21 ± 9.85 mg/dL; p < .001), fasting blood glucose (FBG) (-8 [-11, -1.50] mg/dl; p < .001) insulin resistance (-0.95 ± 2.23; p = .020), triglyceride (-20 [-67.50, 3.50] mg/dl; p = .010), & low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (-5 [-12, -1] mg/dl; p < .001) decreased significantly in the PO group.

Extrait Male C57BL/6 mice had 14-week ad libitum access to a high-fat rodent diet containing 60% kcal% fat to induce obesity & diabetes whereas purslane extract (200 mg/kg/day) was administered during the last 4 weeks via intragastric gavage. This study supported that purslane protected endothelial function, & inhibited ER stress and oxidative stress in vasculature through AMPK/eNOS activation, revealing its therapeutic potential against vascular complications in diabetes.

Extrait Based on the anti-diabetic, antioxidant, & anti-hyperlipidemic potential of Portulaca oleracea (PO), this study aimed to evaluate the protective effect of this plant extract on streptozotocin-induced type-I-diabetes-associated reproductive system dysfunction & inflammation. Results: Our results showed that streptozotocin-induced diabetes significantly increased food & water consumption; increased glucose, MDA, TGF-β1, & TNF-α levels; & decreased the seminiferous tubules diameter, sperm count & motility, levels of LH, testosterone, total thiol, VEGF, & SOD activity.

Extrait The apigenin so-obtained was subjected to antibacterial activity on five pathogenic bacterial strains like Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella Typhimurium, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae & Enterobacter aerogenes; among all the bacterial strains, S Typhimurium & P mirabilis have shown maximum diameter of inhibition zone for flavonoid & remaining bacterial strains have shown moderate diameter of inhibition zone when compared with control values & respectively. The minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) for the flavonoid for all tested bacterial strains was found to be >4 mg per mL.
