Extrait The ethanolic extracts were generally inactive against pancreatic α-amylase, & only bark extracts of Psidium guajava & Vangueria madagascariensis showed good activity with IC50 of 10.6 and 11.6 µg/mL, respectively. The aim of this study was to assess whether inhibition of α-glucosidase [1] & α-amylase [2] by ethanol extracts of 40 Madagascarian plants is the scientific rationale behind their traditional anti-diabetic use.

Extrait The effect of Psidium guajava extract on erythromycin-induced liver damage in albino rats was investigated using 30 normal rats grouped into six Group I & II served as the normal and treatment controls that were administered with normal saline and 100mg/kg body weight of erythromycin stearate daily for 14 days respectively. Histopathological investigation of the liver tissues revealed striking oedema & mild periportal mononuclear cell infiltration of hepatic cords in the liver of rats administered 100 mg/kg of erythromycin stearate & 300/450 mg/kg of PG extract.
