Extrait Twenty-five albino rats were induced with type 2 diabetes mellitus using alloxan and were grouped and treated into five treatments (positive control using metformin, 50% fruit extract, 50% leaf extract, 100% fruit extract, 100% leaf extract).Blood glucose level were analyzed and compared. The Hypoglycemic effects of its fruit & leaf extracts on the blood glucose level of alloxan-induced diabetic albino rats were determined & compared with the positive control using Metformin.

Extrait the present study aimed to provide insight into the antidiabetic mechanisms of methanol & flavonoid-rich leaf extracts of Synsepalum dulcificum (MSD and FSD, respectively). Conclusion: Results from this study indicate that increased insulin synthesis, reduction of inflammation & inhibition of carbohydrate metabolizing enzymes are likely mechanisms by which MSD &FSD exert antidiabetic action in type II diabetic rats.

Selon -Chen CC (2006)
Extrait In an attempt to probe a new target to improve insulin resistance, miracle fruit (Synsepalum dulcificum) was employed to investigate the effect on insulin resistance induced by fructose-rich chow in rats. In conclusion, the results suggest that miracle fruit may be used as an adjuvant for treating diabetic patients with insulin resistance because this fruit has the ability to improve insulin sensitivity.

Extrait Synsepalum dulcificum or the "miracle fruit" is well known for its taste-Modifying ability. This effect was shown to be related to a glycoprotein called "miraculin." Other beneficial characteristics of this fruit were its antioxidant & anticancer abilities that are due to the various amides existing in the miracle fruit.
